Renowned “Punch & Pie” Founder and NYC Mixologist Logan Ronkainen Curates
Art Inspired Cocktail Pairings at The National Hotel’s Blues Bar, December 1-4th

A must-see stop during Art Basel, The National Hotel is blending an immersive art experience with creative cocktails as Logan Ronkainen, renowned NYC mixologist, Chilled magazine columnist and founder of “Punch & Pie,” takes over the hotel’s Blues Bar between December 1-4th to create artfully delicious concoctions inspired by some of the world’s biggest artists, including Maurice Renoma and Carole Feuerman.

Ronkainen merged his experiences in the culinary and cocktail worlds to bring to life the “Punch & Pie” pop-up that has taken New York City by storm. From working as a chef in the Hudson Valley, to establishing Punch & Pie and his term as Head Bartender and Spirits Consultant for Trattoria Il Mulino in New York, Ronkainen has redeveloped the modern cocktail trend by pairing classic pizza pies with globally-inspired spirits. As each Punch & Pie event is carefully curated using ingredients to match the occasion, Ronkainen designed an aesthetically pleasing menu of drinks and flatbreads to complement the playful and iconic artwork of Maurice Renoma and elegant life-size sculptures of Carole Feuerman that will be on display from December 1-4th at The National Hotel.

Maurice Renoma, French designer and photographer, will showcase nearly 100 photographs and scenography throughout the National Hotel, redecorate the hotel’s poolside cabana suite and lobby with Renoma’s Parisian furniture, and launch a pop-up retail shop with some of his signature pieces in the hotel’s Martini Room. Presented in collaboration with Markowicz Fine Art, the exhibition by the European icon will be on display from December 1st, 2016, through April 30th, 2017. On December 1st, The National Hotel will host a cocktail reception with Renoma, featuring Ronkainen’s handcrafted cocktails and various flatbreads from Tamara’s Bistro, all delectably inspired after the designer’s cuisine served at his signature cafes in Paris.

On December 2nd, Ronkainen will debut signature concoctions that accentuate Carole Feuerman’s exhibit of four hyper-realistic sculptures. Feuerman, whose work has been featured in cities like Florence, New York City, Venice, and Seoul amongst others, captures the vitality and grace of human subjects in life-sized pieces, many of which are reminiscent of the 1920s environment in which they are displayed.
